Documentation Centre

The Documentation Centre and Historical Archive is a public service provided by the Municipality of Portimão, forming part of the city’s museum, whose mission is to conserve, organise and disseminate information that enables people to gain a global and chronological understanding of the historical themes and political, economic, social and cultural background of the Municipality of Portimão and the Algarve.
The centre serves as the final resting place for the documentary memories and the historical identity of the Municipality of Portimão, complementing the Museum’s collecting and research work, in particular personal, company, industrial, commercial collections and those of local associations, as well as the Municipality’s own Historic Archive
